Windows 0.2.20 and earlier: install the current download once to enable signed automatic updates. After that, use Check for updates inside Nova. Downloads and updates are hosted on Supabase.

First launch

Windows says “Windows protected your PC”
  1. Click More info.
  2. Click Run anyway.
  3. Follow the installer. Nova starts in the system tray; sign in with your Nova email and password.
macOS says Nova “can’t be opened” or “is damaged”
  1. Open the .dmg and drag Nova into Applications.
  2. In Applications, right-click Nova → Open, then click Open. (On macOS 15+: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway.)
  3. If macOS says the app is damaged, run this once in Terminal:
    xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Nova.app
  4. Allow microphone access when asked, so Nova can hear “Hey Nova”.
